FAQ

Alumina ceramic plungers are precision industrial components made primarily from high-purity alumina (mainly 99% alumina).  Thanks to their excellent physical and chemical properties, they are gradually replacing traditional metal plungers in various fields. Their core characteristics and applications are as follows:

Core Performance

1. Wear Resistance: With a Mohs hardness of 9 (second only to diamond), their wear resistance is 10-20 times that of stainless steel. In lithium battery slurry transportation, their lifespan can reach 5000 hours (compared to only 500 hours for metal plungers).

Actual industrial testing shows a 3-5 times longer lifespan and an 80% reduction in maintenance costs.

2. Corrosion Resistance and Stability: Resistant to strong acids, strong bases, and organic solvents (such as electrolytes), and FDA certified, with no risk of metal ion leaching. With a melting point of 2075℃ and a thermal expansion coefficient only 1/3 that of metal, they can operate stably at extreme temperatures from -273℃ to 1700℃.

3. Precision Machining Capability: Surface roughness can reach Ra≤0.008μm (equivalent to 1/8000 of a human hair), and the clearance between the plunger and the sleeve is only 2-3 microns, ensuring no leakage. Straightness error is ≤0.1μm, and injection accuracy error is controlled within ±0.1%.
